Entry Requirements
This program is best suited for:
• Current students in nursing, medicine, biomedical or health sciences
• Internationally qualified doctors or nurses (non-recognised qualifications in Australia)
• Current or former nurses / midwifes
• Those with other relevant health/medical backgrounds
This is an open entry program of study with participants needing to read, write and communicate in English to a level to perform the job.
- Students will be required to complete a “Language, Literacy, Numeracy & Digital (LLND)” evaluation to determine suitability for the course
- Students must undertake a “Pre-Training Review” prior to determine suitable for the course
- Students must be over 18 years of age to conduct practical work placement.
- Students must obtain a volunteer Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) (commonly known as a police check) at their own expense. Please note, if there is a Disclosable Court Outcome on the record, we are unable to assist with placement, as industry partners require a clear record. In Victoria, this includes any offences by adults up to 10 years ago, and this requirement is non-negotiable.
- Students must obtain a volunteer Working with Children Check at their own cost.
- Students are required to be able to access appropriate technology (including a computer). Students must have sufficient digital literacy. Further details will be discussed upon application
- Students are required to provide All Health Training with evidence of current flu and Hepatitis B vaccination in order to participate in practical placements. Please note that COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended for healthcare workers, and some placement providers require evidence of 3 vaccinations.
Practical Placement
Practical placement of 35 hours is a mandatory requirement of this course. Our dedicated Placement Coordinator will organise your placement with one of our trusted industry partners, giving you valuable, real-world experience in a professional setting and a strong start to your career in pathology collection.
- Typically, Monday to Friday with a start time of 8am – 9am and a finish time of 3.30pm - 5pm.
- Sometimes placement may occur over 2 weeks which is at the employers discretion.
- All providers request students to undertake placement in one block of time and as such, All Health Training suggests if you are already working you consider discussing and organising work and/or family care arrangements prior to undertaking practical placement to enable you to undertake these duties during the week.
- Placement completed at the end of the course as students must have done at least 20 “successful” live bleeds before placement can be commenced. Placement may take between 1 - 3 months to coordinate with industry.
- Placement is not available during the months of December & January due to restrictions with employers.
- Students will be required to wear an All Health Training polo shirt and name badge (both provided) on placement. In addition, long black pants & black closed in, non-slip shoes will be required which students will either need to provide or purchase at their own cost.

This course is delivered over 10 weeks through a blend of online and face-to-face classroom learning, plus 35 hours of practical placement.

Our blended delivery model combines face-to-face classroom learning & Online class learning and hands-on training through AHT Online, all guided by experienced trainers in a supportive group environment.
- By-appointment practical bleed sessions:
Students will be given a list of available days and times to book into during the fast-track program.
- First Aid:
You will be required to book into one of our public first aid courses to complete your first aid unit of competency. Information will be provided at commencement.

Opportunity for Credit Transfers (CT) & Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
If students have already successfully completed unit/s of competency which are included within the qualification AHT offers, credit may be granted.
Competencies gained through other formal study or experience may be acknowledged through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.
